After six years in the majors, LA native Jack Flaherty found his seventh season to be the charm. The Dodgers traded for him ahead of the July deadline, allowing him to finally pitch in front of his hometown. Flaherty became a crucial part of the Dodgers' pitching rotation, which had been weakened by injuries, and went on to win his first World Series before becoming a free agent.
No one was happier than his mother, Eileen, who promptly posted a childhood picture of Flaherty in a Dodgers jersey as soon as the trade was announced.
As the year came to a close, Flaherty shared a series of photos from his season, highlighting his time with both the Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers. The collection included photos with his teammates from both teams, several with his mother Eileen, and some with his friends.
"In this world concrete flowers grow ⚡️Na’au 🌑," the ace wrote in caption.
Jack Flaherty nearly forgot mother Eileen took tequila shot during World Series
While Jack Flaherty was laser-focused on helping the Dodgers secure their eighth World Series title, he let loose during the World Series parade.
During an appearance on "Run It Back on FanDuel TV" in November, Flaherty hilariously recalled the moment when his mother, Eileen, took a shot of tequila:
"I actually do remember all of the parade. There was one moment that I did not remember ... it was mom taking a shot of tequila," Flaherty said (Timestamp: 30:48). "Because she doesn't drink tequila and I saw a video of her doing it on my phone afterwards. I was like, 'I forgot about this' and then ... that's what sparked everything."
This hilarious moment led Flaherty to take tequila shots with his fellow teammates. A viral video even captured him handing a chug to NL MVP Shohei Ohtani.
In reference to that moment, Flaherty said:
"After each series that we won, we would take a tequila shot as a team. It was always time for a shot, and I was always next to Sho, and we would take out tequila shot together. It took a lot of convincing that day to get him to do it, but eventually he finally did" (Timestamp: 29:40).
Jack Flaheryt is currently a free agent, and it seems unlikely that the Dodgers will re-sign him, given their abundance of starting pitchers for the 2025 season.
