Baltimore Orioles prospect Jackson Holliday and wife Chloe have been active on social media during the season. In Chloe's Instagram story on Friday, the young Orioles infielder was seen sporting a custom sweater of his beloved dog Coconut while he carried the canine in his arms.
Coconut has appeared several times on the couple's social media accounts. The Hollidays' adorable pet resembles a Cockapoo, a cross-breed between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle.
It will be a long offseason for Jackson and wife Chloe to spend time with their dog Coconut. Holliday's Orioles were recently eliminated by the Kansas City Royals in the first round of this year's postseason.
Jackson Holliday's first season as a major leaguer
Touted as the best prospect in baseball ahead of the 2024 MLB season, the expectations were at an all-time high for Jackson Holliday. After all, baseball is in the youngster's DNA, as he's the son of multiple-time All-Star and former NLCS MVP Matt Holliday.
After being selected as the first overall draft pick in the 2022 MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles, Holliday finally had a chance to exhibit his talents in The Show when he was elevated to the main roster on April 10, 2024.
Jackson's start was everything but smooth as he posted a .059 batting average in his first 10 games in the majors. The rough patch was enough for the organization to relegate him to Triple-A Norfolk.
However, that wasn't the end of the highly-rated prospect's major league season. He was recalled on July 31 and came back in grand fashion. The 20-year-old recorded his first MLB home run — in the grand slam variety against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The prospect was sparingly used in the middle infield throughout the regular season. Holliday appeared 56 times as a second baseman and thrice as a shortstop with a sole game as a designated hitter.
He finished the season with a slash line of .189/.311/.565 with five home runs, 23 RBIs and four stolen bases. With the Orioles stacking in talent and contending for a World Series title in the next few years, it will be interesting how the upstart will carve out a role in the lineup.
