It was not the rookie season that many expected from Jackson Holliday. Arguably the top prospect in the Baltimore Orioles system, Holliday has sky-high potential in the Majors, however, it was an inconsistent and disappointing first campaign for the former first overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft.

Holliday struggled to make much of an impact in 2024, posting a .189 batting average with five home runs, 23 RBIs, and a .565 OPS. While it's clear that Holliday has the tools to become an All-Star at baseball's highest level, he still has plenty of work to do.

Luckily, Holliday comes from an elite baseball family. His father Matt was a superstar during his playing days mainly with the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies, earning seven All-Star selections. It's safe to say that baseball is in Holliday's blood.

It's not only his father but also his younger brother Ethan Holliday, who is widely considered the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. The pair have been working with trainer Michael Drach this offseason ahead of the 2025 campaign. Drach's Instagram showed them training to improve their strength and speed heading into the new year.

It will be interesting to see how Jackson Holliday will be able to grow after a disappointing rookie season for the Baltimore Orioles. After playing in 60 MLB games and having a full Major League offseason under his belt, Holliday could be poised for a big 2025 season if he can live up to his potential.

MLB insider Sam Miller believes Jackson Holliday could be poised for a massive jump soon

There is no denying the tools that Jackson Holliday possesses, however, it's a question of when he will put it all together. MLB insider Sam Miller believes that there is a chance that Holliday could become one of the best second basemen in baseball.

"He's still one of the most talented players in the game and the one guy with like, MVP-level talent, then question is just, is it happening this year or three years from now," Miller said on the MLB Network.

Holliday must perform to cement himself in an everyday role with the Baltimore Orioles this season. The team has several proven players, including Jorge Mateo and Ramon Urias. Jordan Westburg needs playing time. And let's not forget fellow prospect Coby Mayo is looming. It will be a big year for Jackson, so let's hope his offseason work pays off.
