It has been a year to remember for San Diego Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. Although the team couldn't reach their goal of winning the World Series, the outfielder made an immediate impact in MLB. Merrill showcased why many believe that he will have a lengthy and successful career in the majors.
Not only have things gone well for Jackson Merrill on the field, the same could be said for the San Diego Padres star off the field. The ultra-talented outfielder and his girlfriend Sammie Quinn have seen their relationship continue to grow. In Quinn's latest post on Instagram, Merrill was not afraid to show his partner how he feels about her.
In her post, Sammie Quinn did a 'photo dump' of her latest pictures. In the caption, Quinn not only said how much she cared about her friends in the photos, but she also how proud she is of Jackson Merrill for his successful first MLB season.
The San Diego Padres rookie gave a short but sweet response to the Instagram post, writing "Te amoooo" (I Love You) in the comment section.
While the gesture was heartfelt and sweet, Merrill's use of Spanish left some fans praising his use of another language. Given the fact that there is a heavy Spanish-speaking community in San Diego, it would be unsurprising if Merrill was practicing to become bilingual.
Jackson Merrill's tremendous 2024 could get even better when the season's awards are announced
Merrill has not only made a case for himself as one of the most exciting young MLB players, but he also has a legitimate shot at being named the National League Rookie of the Year.
The NL is clearly in good hands in the future given the amount of rookie talent displayed this season. Aside from Merrill, other NL rookies who established themselves in MLB this season include Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Shota Imanaga of the Chicago Cubs, and Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers.
When it comes to the NL Rookie of the Year Award, it appears that it will come down to Jackson Merrill and Paul Skenes. Both players earned All-Star selections, and both rookies were arguably the top performers on their respective clubs. If Merrill can snag the hardware, it will make his 2024 even more memorable.
