Jesse Winker and his old teammate Willy Adames got into a heated argument during the New York Mets-Milwaukee Brewers Wild Card Game on Tuesday. In Game 1 of the series, with the Mets down 2-0, Winker stepped up to the plate and ripped a game-tying triple into the right-field corner. But it wasn’t just his bat that made a buzz in social media — it was his confrontation with Adames that got fans talking.

After hitting a two-run triple during the second inning, Jesse Winker was seen shouting at Brewers’ pitcher Freddy Peralta, and after celebrating the tying runs with Mets teammates, a verbal exchange between the two led to fans questioning the motivation behind it. Later, a Jomboy Media post on X/Twitter explained that Adames had told Winker to meet him at the parking lot after the game.

Tensions have been brewing between the two since their last time as teammates last season when Winker had an underwhelming stint with the Milwaukee Brewers.

A few days before the Wild Card game, Winker was hit by a pitch from Brewers starter Frankie Montas and some analysts even suggested it might have been intentional. Whether it was old grudges or just playoff excitement, Winker and Adames’ exchange showed just how personal this matchup had become.

Fans quickly took to social media to share their thoughts and reactions. Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"Winker is at his best when he’s in a toxic situation," one fan said.
"Winker truly is a gift to us all," another fan joked.
"I just want to know. Did they meet in the parking lot?" one fan asked.
"Winker would meet the Brewers in the parking lot," another fan added.

Winker had a rocky tenure with the Brewers, slashing a disappointing .199/.320/.247. However, his clutch performance for the Mets has silenced his critics as the club went on to secure an 8-4 victory, putting themselves ahead in the series and one win away from the NLDS.
