On Saturday, Joe Kelly's wife, Ashley Nicole, shared a series of snaps on her Instagram Story, as she enjoyed a basketball game at UC Riverside with her husband and their son, Knox.
The couple, former student-athletes at the university, were also honored and welcomed back during alumni appreciation night.
"Go UCR!" Ashley Nicole captioned.
The game was a clash between the Highlanders and UC San Diego. In what turned out to be a close game, the home team came out on top 85-81.
Long before he became a three-time World Series champion and a popular big league pitcher, Joe was a key member of UC Riverside's baseball team. Like Joe, Ashley Nicole also showcased a keen passion for sport, featuring regularly for the women's soccer team.
Per numerous sources, the UCR campus was also where the pair first crossed paths, eventually dating for a few years before they married in 2013. Apart from Knox, the couple has three other children, a daughter named Crue and sons Blake and Kai.
Joe Kelly considering retirement after injury-ravaged 2024 season
The 2024 season had a perfect ending for the LA Dodgers as they won their division, the NL West, before winning the pennant and ultimately their eighth World Series title.
For Joe Kelly, it was the third time he won baseball's biggest prize, also winning it with the Dodgers in 2020 and the Boston Red Sox in 2018. However, he dealt with injuries, including a shoulder injury sustained in September, which caused him to miss the entire postseason.
He effectively became a free agent as soon as the 2024 season ended and Kelly is still undecided on his next move. However, he has hinted that his shoulder may not recover in time for next season and retirement may be in the cards if the Dodgers decide against extending him.
