The Houston Astros became the fourth team in MLB to win its respective division following a 4-3 win against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. The Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies have also won their respective divisions.

It was the fourth consecutive time the Astros have won the AL West after previously finishing second to the Oakland Athletics in the 2020 Covid-shortened season.

To make the occasion more memorable, wives of Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez were in attendance at Minute Maid Park, joining in the celebration. Bregman's wife posted snaps with her husband and son Knox following the game.

Meanwhile, Josh Hader's wife Maria, Jose Altuve's wife Nina and Yordan Alvarez's wife Monica celebrated on social media in their own way.

After starting the year on a losing note in the first month, the Astros got back the winning mojo, clearing the Mariners for the top spot by the All-Star break and eventually sustaining it till now.

Astros stars look forward to another deep postseason run

One team in AL that has remained consistent to extract the best result in the postseason is the Houston Astros. Since 2017, the Astros have won two World Series on top of seven straight ALCS appearances.

Alex Bregman, who has been part of this golden run from the start, expects another deep postseason run.

“I think we’ve gotten better over the course of the year each month,” Bregman said. “As a ballclub, sometimes you have your best month early and I think ours is still ahead of us.”

In his first year at the helm, manager Joe Espada would also like to win a World Series with the Astros.

“Tears came out of my eyes,” Espada said. “I’m emotional because I care about this team, I love this team and the fact we are in position to compete for another World Series is special.”

Another veteran player who has been with the Astros, Justin Verlander, talked about the team culture and grit of the manager, the major reason for their fourth straight AL West win.

“I think a lot of it is culture, a lot of it is the guys in the locker room keeping spirits high,” Verlander said. “The players had a big part in that. Joe not panicking had a big part of that. There were a lot of team meetings early on. And I think there was never a panic like, ‘We suck, what’s going on?' It was always, ‘We’re better than this.’”

The Astros have the squad to take down anyone in AL. Another New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros ALCS matchup could be on the cards this season.
