Jose Altuve is a former American League MVP and a star second baseman for the Houston Astros. Altuve might be one of the smallest players in MLB but he has proven to be one of the most talented among his peers. Not only has he put up some strong individual statistics, but he has also helped deliver a pair of World Series championships.
The Astros are going to look different in 2025 as they are saying goodbye to some of their core players. Altuve is still under contract, so he will be coming back. On Saturday, the team posted a picture of Altuve with an interesting comment and that post caught the attention of his wife, Nina.
The Astros tagged Altuve and included several images of him. They also kept the caption short and simple.
"The GOAT," Astros captioned.
There were thousands of comments and likes, but one particular comment stood out, and it was from Nina. Instead of using words to express her gratitude, she used three emojis to show how she felt about the post.
Jose Altuve continues to lose valuable teammates
The Houston Astros have not yet decided on third baseman Alex Bregman, but it appears that they are looking to move on from the All-Star. Houston already made a trade this winter and sent Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs, and losing Bregman would create another huge void in the offense.
This is nothing new for the Houston Astros as they have let a couple of other All-Star performers leave since winning the World Series in 2022. Carlos Correa and George Springer have been away from the team for years and Altuve could soon be the only core player remaining.
Altuve hasn't forgotten about his old friends, and he teamed up with Correa on Dec. 22 for a memorable moment. The two, along with their wives, helped spread awareness for children's health initiatives.
The Houston Astros are celebrating their All-Star second baseman on social media, but he might be the only fan favorite left with the team when the 2025 season begins.
