After an early exit in the postseason, Josh Hader and his wife Maria have been enjoying their free time together. Hader and the Houston Astros went to vacation earlier than expected after getting swept in the AL Wild Card Series by the Detroit Tigers.
An Instagram update by Maria featured the couple's son Lucas. The young Hader was photgraphed by Maria standing next to a tiny Christmas tree with a caption:
"Decorated his own tree!"
Josh Hader and wife Maria has been married since November 2019. Maria Hader (nee Macias) hails from Corpus Christ, Texas. A little over two years after their marriage, their son Lucas Alexander was born, in June 2022.
Josh Hader fails to hold the line against the Detroit Tigers
In what was dubbed by The New York Post as a $95 million disaster, Houston Astros closer Josh Hader crumbled under pressure in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Detroit Tigers.
After a clean Game 1 outing, where he surrendered no hits or runs in an inning of appearance, Hader's Game 2 couldn't have been more different. He was placed in an unenviable spot with the game tied at 2-2 and with runners on first and second base.
The lefty closer walked the first batter he faced - Spencer Torkelson. Next up was pinch-hitter Andy Ibanez. Hader had the upper-hand over the pinch-hitter, with a 1-2 count. However, Ibanez smashed a bases-clearing double to left field at Minute Maid Park, which gave the Tigers the 5-2 lead. The pinch-hitter's double would be the final nail in the coffin as it ended the Astros' 2024 season.
Houston had signed Josh Hader ahead of the 2024 campaign on a five-year, $95 million contract that's considered as one of the most luctrative deals ever handed out to a reliever. He had a respectable first season at Space City, posting an 8-8 record with a 3.80 ERA with 34 saves out of 28 opportunities.
