Coming off a bright 31-home run year, first baseman Josh Naylor got dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks from the Cleveland Guardians in a trade that involved Slade Cecconi and a competitive balance draft pick in the 2025 MLB draft in exchange.

Naylor spent four years with the Guardians after joining via trade from the San Diego Padres in Aug. 2020. He's coming off a career year, hitting .243 and 108 RBIs. The first baseman expressed his thanks for his former team and his brother Bo.

On Friday, after the trade went official, Josh Naylor penned an Instagram post filled with immense gratitude for the Guardians who let him shine through during his stay there.

"To the Cleveland Guardians fans, my teammates, coaches, and everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey: Thinking about the past four (plus) seasons with the Guardians, I’m filled with immense gratitude," Naylor wrote. "From the first day I stepped onto the field, to the countless moments of growth, challenges, and triumphs, this organization has played an important part in shaping who I am, both as a player and as a person."

He also penned a heartfelt message for his teammates and coaches.

"To my teammates and coaches: Thank you for being there every step of the way, for challenging me, and for guiding me. The bonds we’ve formed, the lessons I’ve learned, and the memories we’ve created together will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m deeply grateful for your support, both on and off the field," Naylor added.

The first baseman will miss exciting Progressive Field as he penned a few words for the loyal fanbase.

"To the fans: Your unwavering support has meant the world to me. Whether it was cheering us on through the highs or standing by us during the tough times, you’ve made me proud to represent this team and the city of Cleveland. Your energy and passion have always pushed me to give my best, and for that, I am forever thankful," Naylor wrote.

Josh Naylor's special mention for brother Bo

Bo Naylor, drafted 29th overall by Cleveland in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft, got to spend the past two seasons with his elder brother Josh who's now departing for the Dbacks. Naylor, who spent the past two seasons with his brother, gave him a special thanks.

"A special thank you to my brother, Bo, who was by my side during the past couple of seasons. To have had the opportunity to share this experience with you as teammates is something beyond words. It’s a memory I will cherish forever, and I will always be thankful for the moments we’ve shared both as brothers and as teammates," Naylor wrote.

Next up, Josh Naylor is "excited to begin this next chapter of baseball journey with the Diamondbacks." He will look to help them return to the postseason after failing to qualify in 2024.
