As we inch closer to the opening of Spring Training facilities, baseball stars are already indulging in some offseason banter, with Seattle Mariners sensation Julio Rodriguez leading the charge. On Monday, Rodríguez and Guardians veteran Carlos Santana exchanged playful jabs, catching the attention of fellow MLB players Luis Arraez and Willi Castro.
The fun began with a photo of Santana wrapped in a cozy blanket at a barber shop, striking an expression perfect for memes. Rodríguez initiated the banter by tagging Santana and playfully asking on Instagram:
"Que fue lo que le dijeron a @slamtana_41 ?? Los leo🤭🤣 (What did they tell you? Los leo)."
The comment instantly set the tone for a thread full of humor.
Reacting to Santana's expression, Arraez jumped in with a witty comment about running out of snacks, joking:
"Que se acabó la fritura brooo (Did the snacks run out, brooo?)," accompanied by laughing emojis.
Castro chimed in, pointing out Santana's comical expression, saying:
"La cara cuando no está de acuerdo contigo (That face when someone doesn’t agree with you 🤣🤣)."
Finally, Santana responded to the teasing, saying:
"¡Qué tanto jode! Este muchacho (Why so much teasing! This guy)."
Julio Rodriguez publicly mocks Carlos Santana's parking skills
Monday's post wasn't the first time Julio Rodriguez playfully teased Carlos Santana, his teammate during the 2022 season with the Seattle Mariners.
Last Tuesday, Rodriguez and Santana found themselves at the same location when Rodriguez noticed Santana's white Porsche parked imperfectly. Unable to contain his amusement, Rodriguez posted about it on Instagram, tagging Santana and writing (translated to English):
"Did I park it straight?"
The picture above shows a white Porsche parked across the parking lines.
The fun banter will continue as players gear up for the upcoming MLB season with new hopes. Santana has joined the Cleveland Guardians after signing a one-year, $12 million contract in December.
Meanwhile, J-Rod hopes to rebound from a lackluster 2024 season, which saw him miss out on an All-Star selection, after making it to the MidSummer Classic in his first two seasons in the majors.
