The MLB offseason gives players a chance to regroup and prepare for the upcoming season. Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez traveled to Japan during the break and the outfielder shared several photos from his trip on his Instagram account on Monday.
The first picture from the post showed J-Rod wearing all black and he was also seen wearing a mask to cover his face. He captioned the post:
"Follow your Heart ♥️ for some reason it already knows what you really want. Never stop listening to it.🤘🏽."
Rodriguez is the starting CF for the Seattle Mariners and will head into 2025 as one of the best young players in baseball. He signed with the Mariners as an international free agent in 2017 and made his major league debut during the 2022 campaign. However, he had a poor 2022 season and he and the Mariners will look to turn it around in the upcoming season.
Julio Rodriguez receives hero's welcome in Japan
The Seattle Mariners were expected to be a playoff contender during the 2024 season, but things didn't go as planned for the team. Julio Rodriguez hit just 20 home runs and drove in 68 runs last season, both those numbers were below his career averages. Rodriguez was first spotted in Japan in early November.
The Yakyu Cosmopolitan, a baseball news portal, shared a post in mid-November that showed Rodriguez arriving in Shinjuku, a district in the city of Tokyo. Baseball is extremely popular in the country and locals were thrilled to get a chance to see the Seattle Mariners outfielder.
J-Rod was also spotted walking down the streets of the Japanese capital city and he signed some autographs for fans. Rodriguez will soon begin preparations for the upcoming season in Seattle and he could possibly have more support from Japanese fans this season.
