The Los Angeles Dodgers have bolstered their starting rotation considerably this off-season following the acquisition of Roki Sasaki to their roster last week. The Dodgers had earlier signed two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell on a five-year, $182 million deal. They also added ace reliever Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72 million contract this week.

Ben Verlander, brother of three-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander, believes the Los Angeles Dodgers have assembled the greatest starting rotation in the history of the game. He finds it quite astonishing that Roki Sasaki has to settle for a No. 5 role in their rotation behind Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, as will easily be the ace of the pitching staff for most teams.

"I truly believe this might be the greatest rotation of all time. You have Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki. That's insane!" he exclaimed. [3:00 - 8:00] "This guy would be an ace on the staff of 25 of 30 teams. Not the Dodgers. He's going to slot in as No. 5. Is that what we're saying right now?
"Not to mention in the rotation you have guys, your 'depth pieces', because anywhere else they're in your rotation. Your depth is Dustin May, Gavin Stone, Bobby Miller, and Tony Gonsolin. What's the deal with [Clayton] Kershaw? That's your depth for a rotation. And then, if it's not needed in a rotation, then you put them into the bullpen," he added.

Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw is a free agent right now, although he is expected to return to the team at some point before the start of the season.

It's insane, what they're doing: Ben Verlander on the Dodgers signing Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Teoscar Hernandez, Tanner Scott

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the most active organization in the free agent market this winter despite winning the World Series. Ben Verlander also pointed out the extent to which the Dodgers have strengthened their team in the off-season.

"The Dodgers just won the World Series, and they have, so far, signed Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Teoscar Hernández, and Tanner Scott, the best closer [and] the best relief available," he said. "They signed Kirby Yates, Blake Treinen, Michael Conforto, and Hyeseong Kim. It's insane what they're doing."

The Dodgers had a deep starting rotation last season as well, although it was quite depleted when the postseason arrived, as most of them were on the IL at the time.
