Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte shared an adorable snap on his Instagram story on Friday as he spent some quality time with his youngest son, Kadmiel.
Ketel Marte and his wife, Elisa Guerrero, who is incidentally the first cousin of fellow big league star Vladimir Guerrero Jr., currently have five children together, Kelly, Mahienson, Keyden, Keycha, and Kadmiel. Kadmiel was born in 2021 and is the youngest of the bunch.
"😍😍😍😍" Marte captioned his Instagram story.
Marte's older sons are regulars at Chase Field, chasing their dad on the field whenever the Diamondbacks play at home. Once Kadmiel gets a little older, he will presumably join his brothers at a lot of ball games to chase his father.
Ketel Marte participates in switch-hitting batting practice in picturesque hometown of Nizao
Though Ketel Marte is making sure to spend plenty of time with his family during the offseason, he is not shying away from putting in plenty of work as evidenced by some of his Instagram stories.
The two-time All-Star uploaded a series of videos to his Instagram story on Thursday to showcase his switch-hitting abilities. He was participating in batting practice in what appears to be his hometown of Nizao, located in the Dominican Republic.
In the 2024 season, Marte was arguably the most important player for the Arizona Diamondbacks, finishing the regular season with a .292 batting average, 36 home runs and 95 RBIs. His fantastic performances over the course of the campaign were duly rewarded as he won his first career Silver Slugger award while also being voted the third-most valuable player in the NL, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets.
The Dominican suffered an ankle injury after colliding awkwardly with Garrett Stubbs of the Philadelphia Phillies in early August last year. Marte having to sit out for an extended period of time seemingly derailed the Diamondbacks' season, which many thought was a safe bet to make it to the postseason. As it turned out, the Diamondbacks agonizingly missed out on the postseason on the last day of the regular season.
