Ryan O'Hearn and the Baltimore Orioles are fresh off a four-game sweep against the Chicago White Sox, which helped build momentum as they chase the 37-18 New York Yankees in the AL East. At 33-18, the Orioles are second in the East and know that they have to win consistently to catch New York.
Sunday's 4-1 win over the White Sox was much-needed for Baltimore and came off a 5-3 win on Saturday, where O'Hearn played a decisive role. O'Hearn recorded a home run and two RBIs in the win, much to the delight of Orioles fans.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, his wife, Hannah O'Hearn, was in a celebratory mood and shared a snap of the couple at Guaranteed Rate Field. She captioned the post:
"Knocked their Sox off."
After being rested on Sunday, O'Hearn is back in the lineup for Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox.
Orioles manager credits Ryan O'Hearn for late push past White Sox
Ryan O'Hearn's home run came in the eighth inning on Saturday and was part of a decisive, five-run inning. At 3-1 down, his home run couldn't have been timed better, and Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was full of credit for the first baseman:
“O'Hearn, for me, set the tone there [that inning].That might be the at-bat of the year.
“The amount of foul balls -- and [him] hanging in there and hitting a two-run homer really gave us a spark, because we had nothing going.”

Ryan O'Hearn also shared his thoughts with reporters:
“I tell myself not to be in swing mode. It’s like, I know I'm swinging at balls,” O’Hearn said. “But I'm also just up there competing and trying to put the ball in play with two strikes.
“When you swing at a ball at your head and catch up to it, it also gives you a little bit of like, ‘Oh, OK, I’ve got more time than I think.’ And then you get a medium-speed pitch in the middle, it puts you in a good position to do damage.”
With the Orioles set to face the third-placed 27-26 Red Sox in an important division battle on Monday, it will be interesting to see if O'Hearn can repeat his heroics.
