With the 2024 World Series win, Los Angeles Dodgers' skipper Dave Roberts has lifted his third World Series title. The 52-year-old now has one World Series win as player, with the Red Sox in 2004, and two as a coach of the Dodgers in 2020 and 2024.
Only two days out from the title-clinching game in New York, it appears Roberts already has one one eye on repeating the trick in the upcoming season.
Addressing a jubilant crowd at Dodger Stadium as the team celebrated their eighth World Series crown on Friday, Dave Roberts announced his plans of being in the same position this time next year.
"You guys wanted a parade, we got a parade, thank you guys." Roberts said, talking to the Dodgers fans. " I want to thank you fans, I want to thank you players, I love every single one of you guys. Lets get ready to run this thing back next year too."
After Roberts spoke, Dodgers players also talked to the fans, thanking them for their love and support throughout the season, with their families also in close attendance.
It was a richly deserved afternoon of celebration for everyone affiliated to the Blues, as they basked in the glory of an amazing season.
Latest World Series win strengthens Dave Roberts' Hall of Fame chances
Along with many of the Los Angeles Dodgers' superstars, skipper Dave Roberts has also had a great season. Though the impact of a manager may be more difficult to notice as compared to players' performances, it is just as important for the success of a team.
It was not always smooth sailing for the Blues, however. With the team finding themselves in a slump of sorts following the All-Star break, Roberts steered the ship to safety at the right time eventually masterminded a finish with the best record in the regular season, which crucially gave the Dodgers home field advantage for the entirety of the postseason.
Despite losing some of his best pitchers to injury at the worst possible time, Roberts expertly managed the arms in his pitching staff to finish the season with arguably the best starting rotation and bullpen.
Roberts' expertise at managing his players was showcased once again in the World Series clinching game.
As the Dodgers fought to preserve a one run lead and reliever Blake Treinen slightly struggling, Roberts knew exactly what to do as he went out to the mound to slow the game down and give Treinen some time to cool down before helping him refocus his thoughts. Eventually, Treinen repeated what he had done all through the postseason for his team, and got the job done.
For his previous World Series win four years ago, naysayers always pointed out the fact that 2020 was the COVID-shortened season in an effort to downplay Roberts' achievement. 2024's World Series win has proven that was no fluke and may also be the enough to have sealed Roberts' status as a Hall of Famer.
