In November of 2018, Justin Verlander and Kate Upton introduced their first child to the world, Genevieve. The two were more than happy to start their adventure into parenthood, but that did not come with its added pressures.
Both are professionals in their own right: Verlander a frontline starting in the big leagues and Upton, a world-renowned supermodel. It took some time to get used to the balance and everything else that went with being a new parent.
In January 2020, Upton posted a picture on her personal Instagram page. She wanted to give some advice to some of the new moms out there, especially those who were trying to rush getting back into shape after their pregnancy.
"When asked about getting back in shape after pregnancy I discussed the major pressures that are out there for new moms to 'snap back' right after having a baby. Every woman experiences this due to the unnecessary and unrealistic expectations that are brought into every household, mostly via social media," said Upton.
Upton spoke on the unrealistic pressure that many women face in getting their bodies back after pregnancy. Many rush this, and it ends up hurting them, both physically and mentally.
"I certainly felt these pressures, as all women do. I tried to push myself early to get back in the gym, eat perfectly, and try to achieve this alleged 'snap back'. But, after realizing how ridiculous these pressures are I quickly gave myself some slack and lived in the moment as a new mother," said Upton.
Once Upton realized she was pushing herself too hard to get back into shape, she toned it down. She then focused on living in the moment as a new mother, which she would like to see all mothers do.
Justin Verlander's wife Kate Upton's heart was full of love following her pregnancy
Being a new mom can take a lot out of you, and that was no different with Justin Verlander or Kate Upton. However, even though she was drained, she would not have it any other way.
"My energy was drained but my heart was extremely full" said Upton.
Now, the Houston Astros ace and supermodel's daughter is six years old. Upton and Genevieve were often seen in the stands at then-Minute Maid Park, cheering on their favorite pitcher.
