The ongoing LA wildfire crisis has everyone on edge. The destruction amounting to billions and almost the lives of around a dozen people have led many including San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb's wife Sharidan to criticize the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
On Sunday, Sharidan Webb took to Instagram to share her frustrations about the state’s leadership. She stated the couple left California due to this.
"I am not saying I told you so... But this is why we left CA. It was heavy on my heart since COVID. I knew in my gut eventually something horrific would happen," Sharidan wrote.
She also expressed dismay at what she described as systemic failures in California’s governance. Highlighting issues such as underfunded wildfire prevention measures and the unavailability of water in hydrants, she blamed Governor Gavin Newsom and his administration for placing the lives and homes of residents in jeopardy.
“This is why we left CA. It was heavy on my heart since COVID,” Sharidan wrote. “The CA ‘leadership’ has consistently proven time and time again that not only are they incapable, but they are putting the lives and homes of residents in danger. NO WATER IN THE HYDRANTS??? Cutting funding left and right? This is what you voted for.”
She went on to accuse state officials of negligence and corruption, referencing a range of issues from diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies to illegal immigration, homelessness and wildfire management.
Governor Gavin Newsome fires back at Donald Trump administration amid LA wildfire crisis
As any state official would do, Gavin Newsom has asked the people of California to sit tight as they are doing their best to avoid further catastrophe. In light of the inferno, which is growing, President-elect Donald Trump blamed Newsom, President Joe Biden and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for the wildfire.
“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
However, Newsom found Trump's remarks baseless, while talking to NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Saturday.
“Responding to Donald Trump’s insults, we would spend another month,” Newsom told NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff. “I’m very familiar with them. Every elected official that he disagrees with is very familiar with them.”
According to NBC, at least 16 people have died in this wildfire across the greater Los Angeles area.
