Los Angeles Dodgers fans react to Noah Syndergaard admitting he may not be able to pitch at 100 mph anymore: "What the hell happened to this guy"

Los Angeles Dodgers fans were quite disheartened to hear that pitcher Noah Syndergaard may no longer be able to pitch at high velocities. Syndergaard used to be able to reach the 100 mph mark with relative ease but has seen his speed wane in recent seasons.

Before signing with the Dodgers, he believed he could get it back up to where it was, but he has seemingly resigned himself to that being impossible.

Syndergaard was an All-Star in 2016 and was considered a pitcher on the rise. However, he has only declined since then, in part due to injury issues. With the Dodgers, he has a chance to re-establish himself as an elite pitcher, but he will have to do it without his fastball.

Los Angeles Times sports writer Mike DiGiovanna shared the comments from Noah Syndergaard on Twitter.

"If I don't throw 100 again, that's fine. I'm not going out there trying to throw 100, I'm just trying to get outs," Syndergaard said.

A pitcher does not need to be able to reach incredible speeds to record outs, but it sure makes it a lot easier. A pitcher without a top-tier fastball can be figured out and countered a little too early to truly be dominant.

This is a very frustrating situation for Los Angeles Dodgers fans, who hoped they had found another top pitcher.

Noah Syndergaard has played for the Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, and New York Mets in his seven-year MLB career. The league has given him good experience and he has played against the best the game has to offer. If he is losing the physical tools that made him successful, he needs to lean on that experience and knowledge to be effective.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be one of the top teams in the MLB once again, which means there will be pressure on Syndergaard. Pressure affects different players in different ways and Dodgers fans are worried it will damage Syndergaard's performance. If it does, they will require another starting pitcher for 2023.

Noah Syndergaard will have plenty of motivation to prove his doubters wrong in 2023.

Does the National League West still run through the Los Angeles Dodgers?

For a team that won 111 games last season, the Dodgers are surprisingly being written off by many this season. Many believe the San Diego Padres have surpassed them with their busy offseason filled with additions.

Until proven otherwise though, the Los Angeles Dodgers have to be the presumptive favorites to win the division in 2023.
