Los Angeles Dodgers fans think their team should have given young pitcher Dustin May a shot earlier: "Dave Roberts sucks hard"

Standing at 6-foot-6 with iconic long red hair and a bushy beard, Dustin May of the Los Angeles Dodgers could be taken for a man twice his age. The 25-year old is showing immense promise in the early goings of the season.

May was selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2016 draft out of his Texas high school. Although he made 14 appearances for the team in 2019, Dustin May struggled to make the lineup for the next few seasons, either in the bullpen or rotation.

After an impressive training camp, May was selected to join the Dodgers rotation. He would thus be rounding out a rotation featuring big names like Julio Urias, Tony Gonsolin, and Clayton Kershaw.

After carrying a shutout into the ninth inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 1, it was time for the Dodgers to head to the desert for a rematch with their divisional foes.

May pitched in front of a sold-out crowd for the D-Backs home opener. He pitched six innings, allowing 1 earned run, 2 hits, and striking out 5. The Dodgers were able to capture a 5-2 victory at Chase Field in Arizona.

The only question Dodgers fans have right now is why the team did not integrate May into their rotation sooner. Many have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on how the newly minted young stud might impact their rotation this season.

Despite already having a future Hall-of-Fame in Clayton Kershaw and inking a deal with former New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard, Dodgers fans seem to like the young rookie. Alex Vesia, who lasted only a third of an inning in relief of May, is also feeling the heat from the fanbase online.

A torn UCL in mid-2021 kept May sidelined for about sixteen months afterwards. May only appeared in thirteen games across Triple-A and the MLB last season. Fans are also taking aim at Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for taking May out of the game in the sixth inning after he threw 83 pitches.

Dustin May needs to remember that it is a very long season

Despite Dustin May's solid early-season performances for his team, the Los Angeles Dodgers need to remember there is a long way to go.

LA's starters had the lowest ERA of any rotation in baseball last season. This means that they will still probably be doing alright should the youngster be relegated to the minor leagues once more.
