The Los Angeles Dodgers were just one win away from making it to the World Series, but the New York Mets gave them a tough fight after a strong comeback on Friday. Pete Alonso was the first to open the scoreboard with a three-run blast at the bottom of the first inning.
Jack Flaherty had one of his worst outings for his team as Starling Marte recorded a two-run double at the bottom of the third. The Boys in Blue managed to drive in one run. However, Francisco Lindor's two-run double at the bottom of the third gave the Mets a 7-1 lead.
David Peterson surrendered a solo home run at the top of the fourth inning to Andy Pages. The Mets kept fighting back as Jesse Winker surrendered an RBI triple. In no time, the Mets had 10 runs on the board.
Andy Pages was quick to cut the score in half with a three-run blast. Los Angeles trailed with a 10-5 score at the top of the fifth inning. Betts had a solo home run but once again the Mets drove in Jesse Winker to increase the score to 11-6.
The Mets continued their magic as the Boys in Blue was a disaster with their pitching. The Mets squeezed in another run to give them a 12-6 lead. The Dodgers failed to score more than six runs and were forced to move to Game 6.

Pete Alonso, Andy Pages, and Mookie Betts hit home runs tonight
Alonso set the pace for the game with his three-run blast. Pages homered twice for his team while Mookie Betts cranked a solo home run at the top of the sixth inning to give his team the sixth run.
Edwin Diaz stepped in to close the game for the Mets successfully. Diaz has been the exceptional close in these situations. The Mets will take the road as they play Game 6 in Dodger Stadium on Sunday. Both teams are yet to reveal their starting pitchers.
Game 5 was a huge comeback for the Mets and they look forward to a crucial game.
