The Mets sent Sean Manaea to the mound as their starter. Manaea gave up a base hit while Teoscar Hernandez missed a home run by a few inches. Tommy Edman opened the scoring for the Dodgers with a double after driving in Shohei Ohtani and Hernandez. The Mets trailed 2-1 after the first inning in a must-win game.
Edman opened up again for his team with a two-run shot at the bottom of the third inning. Things took a bad turn for the Mets as Will Smith followed Edman with another two-run blast.
The Mets fought back as Mark Vientos smashed a two-run home run to cut the chase into half. The Mets had the bases loaded at the top of the sixth but failed to score.

Tommy Edman, Will Smith, and Mark Vientos hit home runs tonight
Edman went deep to left field with a two-run shot against Manaea to give his team a 4-1 lead. Will Smith extended the lead against Phil Maton to 6-1.
Ad
Mark Vientos went deep with a two-run shot but the Boys in Blue answered with another run as they took a 7-3 lead. Ohtani drove in Smith at the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Mets fought hard to score five runs but the Dodger offense was way too strong as they smashed back-to-back hits and recorded a total of 10 runs. The Dodgers and Yankees will meet for the 12th time in the World Series. Game 1 will take place on Friday. Both teams are expected to announce their starting pitchers in the next few days.
