Dylan Cease took the start for the Padres while Jack Flaherty went up against him. The Padres responded quickly as they racked up two runs in the top of the second inning. Xander Bogarts recorded an RBI single, while Jake Cronenworth recorded an RBI groundout to give the Padres a 2-1 lead.
However, Tommy Edman got to second base while Shohei Ohtani drove him in to tie the game. The Boys in Blue took a 3-2 lead, but Fernando Tatis Jr. answered with a solo home run to tie the game.
Ohtani continued to shine with another base hit, giving the team a 4-3 lead. The slugger tied Ichiro Suzuki's record with his 56th stolen base.

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a home run tonight
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his 12th home run in Dodger Stadium against Flaherty. Tatis went deep to left field, and the Padres were back in the race.
Tatis was the only player to hit a home run. The Padres tried to score, but their opponent's bullpen was pretty strong. One more victory will make the Dodgers the NL West Division Champions. However, the Padres will not let go with ease.
Ohtani saved the day once again as he continued to set records for himself. Despite Flaherty on the mound, the Padres put up a good fight. The Padres clinched a Wild Card berth, and they are still having a tough series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Walker Buehler is predicted to start in Game 3 before they take on the Colorado Rockies. As for the Padres, they will hand over the ball to Jose Musgrove. With some of the top pitchers like Tyler Glasnow sidelined, pitching is expected to be a challenge for the Dodgers. Yet, they prevailed against their NL West rival. Game 3 will be an important one for both teams.
