Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito's girlfriend, who goes by the nickname Mads, posted a selfie of herself enjoying a romantic moment with the big leaguer to her Instagram story on Monday.
Looking at the image's location tag, the pair appeared to be enjoying a day out at the highly-rated Maple & Ash restaurant, located in Chicago. The restaurant features a menu curated by two-Michelin-star chef Danny Grant and is famous for its steaks and seafood.
Before beginning to date his current partner, Lucas Giolito was married to high-school sweetheart Ariana Dubelko. The pair finalized their divorce in 2022.
Lucas Giolito seeking to make comeback from injury in 2025 season
When Lucas Giolito was signed by the Boston Red Sox in January, fans were hopeful that the 30-year-old would be able to replicate the exploits of his 2021 season, wherein he had an 11-9 record, along with a 3.53 ERA and 201 strikeouts for the Chicago White Sox, finishing the campaign as one of the AL's standout performers.
However, an ill-timed elbow injury ruined any plans of a dream introduction at Fenway Park.
Instead, Giolito was dealt a huge setback, as he eventually had to undergo elbow surgery to avoid the condition of his elbow further worsening. This led to him having to watch the entirety of the 2024 season from the sidelines.
With Boston's pitching staff often struggling to contain opposing offenses, Giolito's ability on the mound was sorely missed. Eventually, the Red Sox ended the season in disappointing fashion as they were unable to secure a playoff spot.
In a bid to improve on what was arguably their biggest weakness in 2024, Craig Breslow, the club's chief baseball officer, has been busy in the offseason, having already signed former Los Angeles Angels pitcher Patrick Sandoval and 2024 All-Star Garrett Crochet from the White Sox.
Fans will be hoping Giolito can also hit the ground running when he makes his much-anticipated return in the 2025 season, making the Red Sox's pitching staff one of the most formidable in their division.
