As for Severino's professional career, his move to the Athletics marks a significant change of scenery. He had spent his entire MLB career in New York, playing nine years with the Yankees and one with the Mets.

With the Athletics embarking on their three-year stint in Sacramento before relocating to their permanent home in Las Vegas in 2027, their front office will rely on Severino to build a fanbase.

After a disastrous 2023 campaign, Severino showed improvement last season. However, he has yet to replicate his form in the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Yankees, when he received his two All-Star selections.
