Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer came in clutch for Mexican team Diablos Rojos del México in Game 7 of the South Zone Final Series against the Guerreros de Oaxaca on Sunday. Bauer's agent Rachel Luba celebrated the pitcher's performance with MVP shouts.
The former NL Cy Young Award winner pitched out of the bullpen after just two days of rest following his last start and was lights-out for his team. Bauer pitched four solid innings, allowing two hits and shutting out the opposition with five strikeouts as his team walked off for a 3-2 win.
"In a decisive Game 7, @BauerOutage came out of the bullpen short rest (2 days!), threw 4 innings—one immaculate inning—and got the win in the biggest way possible to advance the @DiablosRojosMX to the final Championship Round! M-V-FUCKING-P," Rachel Luba wrote.
Bauer picked an immaculate eighth inning for his team as Diablos Rojos Mexico came from behind to claim the South Zone championship. Former New York Mets catcher Patrick Mazeika brought home the winning run with his sacrifice fly to walk it off.
Trevor Bauer overwhelmed by support from Rojos Mexico fans
Trevor Bauer's team was 9-1 in the fourth inning of Game 6 on Saturday, and the former MLB pitcher recalled the support from the crowd despite the team being on the brink of a harrowing loss.
"Yesterday we were down nine to one in the fourth inning and this crowd was so loud. None of them left, none of them got silent.
"They gave us a lot of energy to come back. They have been here all year and they have been fantastic. I really appreciate all the fans and their energy gave the little extra we needed to pull this off," Bauer said after the game.
The support from the crowd helped Trevor Bauer and Co. turn around the improbable deficit with an eight-run surge in the bottom of the fourth and claiming an 11-10 win to push the series to a decisive Game 7 on Sunday.
