The 2024 season for Manny Machado and Yuli Gurriel in free agency
The San Diego Padres star third baseman Manny Machado had a decent 2024 season as he played 152 games. He had a batting average of .275, an on-base percentage of .325 and a slugging percentage of .472. Machado drove in 105 RBIs and managed to hit 29 homers while stealing 11 bases.
Besides that, Manny Machado won the 2024 National League (NL) Silver Slugger Award on Nov. 12, 2024, for his 29 home runs. It was the second Silver Slugger Award of his career, and he also made it to the All-MLB second team. Other than that, he was nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award in 2024.
Meanwhile, Yuli Gurriel struggled in the 2024 season as he joined the Kansas City Royals from the Miami Marlins, playing only 18 games. He managed to maintain a batting average of .241, an on-base percentage of .338 and a slugging percentage of .296. He had six RBIs and stole one base.
After a short stint with the Royals, currently, Yuli Gurriel is looking for a new team as he has been a free agent since the conclusion of the 2024 season.
It would be interesting to see if he re-signs with the Royals or if a new team will come calling for him in the days to come.
