The 2025 season could be a huge one for New York Mets slugger Mark Vientos. With the Pete Alonso free-agent talks not looking too good, the organization has told Vientos and Brett Baty to take reps at first base.
However, that is not the only new thing coming Vientos' way. He will also play with four-time All-Star Juan Soto this upcoming season and has the opportunity to hit behind the slugger.
When asked about the prospect of him doing so, Vientos nearly could not spew out the words to let everyone know what he was thinking. It would be a dream come true for the young slugger from Norwalk.
"That's awesome, awesome. Like I said, it's almost like, 'Pinch me, I'm dreaming' type of feeling. So, it's sick that I will be able to get the opportunity, hopefully" said Vientos.
Vientos cannot begin to imagine hitting behind such a great hitter. He hopes that is how the order shapes up when the season gets underway.
Mark Vientos gives tip to young fan during Amazin' Day
The Mets held their Amazin' Day on Saturday. Fans could purchase a ticket for the event to meet the team and staff, get autographs, and hit a few baseballs in the batting cages.
Many teams do this type of convention annually as it allows the fanbase to feel more personally attached to their favorite teams. The Chicago Cubs recently just had their fan convention and it was a hit.
For Mark Vientos, he was kept plenty busy at Amazin' Day. He signed a ton of autographs, chatted with fans, and even helped out some young sluggers in the batting cages.
Vientos watched a youngster get some work in. Afterwards, he helped the kid get a better grasp on his swing telling him to use his legs more.
