Former Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman shared a holiday message on social media which read: "Happy holiday everyone! 2025 is going ot be amazing." That has led many to speculate whether the message has a double meaning that the infielder is going to join the New York Mets next year.

On SportsNite's Heating Up The Stove, though, Mets analyst John Jastremski dismissed such speculations:

"I'm going to say it was an innocent, honest mistake. I'm not going to say that there's some sort of direct correlation between 'amazing', the Mets, Alex Bregman, everything that's coming in 2025. Maybe it;s Bregman trying to get the Mets interested you know. Steve has the money."

Alex Bregman started his MLB career with the Houston Astros in 2016 and has become one of their franchise players. He has won two World Series titles and made two All-Star appearances. A free agent after almost a decade with the Astros, Bregman is one of the biggest names left in the market.

Bregman is represented by super agent Scott Boras, who has a penchant of delaying deals to get the most value possible. At 30, the infielder is possibly looking for his last long-term deal, and the New York Mets would no doubt be a good option. However, it remains to be seen if his holiday message on social media is referring to Steve Cohen's team.

MLB insider believes the Yankees are not interested in signing Alex Bregman

Infielder Alex Bregman remains one of the biggest free agents available, but YES Network's Jack Curry believes that the New York Yankees will not look to him for their third base needs. They have been linked to both Bregman and Nolan Arenado, but nothing concrete has developed.

"Again, anything can change with one phone call. The market can change. But both of those players (Bregman and Arenado), from what I heard, that’s not a road the Yankees are going down," says Curry.

According to Curry, the Yankees will be looking at their in-house options and hope to cultivate them into MLB stars. It's a low cost option that might not sit well despite all their moves in December.
