Miami Marlins pitcher Sixto Sanchez hasn't had the greatest start to his MLB career. He hasn't thrown in a meaningful game since the 2020 season. Injuries have made it hard for the Dominican flame-thrower to get on the mound.
Sanchez had shoulder surgery in July of 2021. Since then, he hasn't been able to recover fully. He reaggravated his shoulder injury, causing him to miss the entire 2022 season. But now with the new season approaching, there's hope that all of that is behind him.

Sanchez took this offseason to get healthier in more ways than one. He's lost an incredible 46 pounds this winter, and he's looking great. Could this be the year where all the hype on Sanchez finally lands?
Miami Marlins fans couldn't be happier seeing this. He went from weighing 260 to 214. It screams that he's more than committed to making a return this season.
"This is our wild card. A healthy Sixto Sanchez changes our rotation to a bonafide playoff contender" one fan explained.
"Looks like more honestly. He looks fantastic!" another fan tweeted.
Some fans have high expectations for the team this year. They see the team as a playoff contender if Sanchez is able to stay healthy for the year.
The Marlins have a pretty solid pitching rotation. Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara headlines it. The rotation was then followed up by Johnny Cueto, Trevor Rogers, Jesus Luzardo, Edward Cabrera, and Sixto Sanchez.
The Miami Marlins may shock a few around the league this year

Miami has had a busy offseason this year. They shocked much of the baseball world when they sent pitcher Pablo Lopez to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Luis Arraez. Since Arraez is primarily a second baseman, we'll see Jazz Chisholm shift over to the outfield.
Arraez was last season's American League batting champion. He hit .316/.375/.420 last year, earning his first trip to the All-Star game and a Silver Slugger award.
The team also added Jean Segura to man third base. Last season with the Philadelphia Phillies, he hit 277/.336/.387 in 98 games played. He had to miss some time with a broken ring finger.
The team has been plagued by injuries. If they can stay healthy, they have a pretty solid roster on paper. The Miami Marlins could come out as one of the most surprising teams this season.
