Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout is regarded as one of the greatest all-round players in the history of major league baseball, thanks to his imposing physique.
MLB and UFC shared a montage of the mixed martial arts athletes throwing the first pitch at an MLB game on Instagram a few years ago. The list of UFC superstars in the video clip included Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, Israel Adesanya, and Sean O'Malley, among others. Fans noted how the bulky stature of Trout made Cormier seem like an ordinary person instead of a multiple-division UFC champion.
Daniel Cormier was a multiple-division champion, holding belts in the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight categories. He's the second fighter in UFC history to be a champion in two weight classes simultaneously and to successfully defend his titles in both divisions.
Fans posted their comments on the mixed martial arts athletes trying their hand at baseball.
"Mike Trout got Daniel Cormier to look like a random fan," one comment read.
"That ain't Adesanya, that's Chazz Jr.," a fan remarked.
"Jon Jones is pound for pound the best pitcher in the UFC," another fan wrote.
Many felt Sean O'Malley executed the best first pitch among all the UFC fighters in the clip.
"O'Malley used to play for sure," one fan said.
"O'Malley and Izzy kiled that," another fan judged.
"O'Malley style is different. He can pitch," said another fan.
A reason why Mike Trout is outsized by Daniel Cormier is because he's the taller of the two. Standing at 5-foot-11, Cormier was fairly short for a fighter while he weighed in at 251 pounds towards the end of his career. Meanwhile, Trout is 6-foot-2 and is listed at 236 pounds.
Ravaging injuries for Mike Trout
Although Mike Trout dominated the MLB for almost a decade with his explosive physical prowess, he's starting to pay a big price for that in the later phase of his career. The 33-year-old has endured a considerable amount of wear and tear on his body, which has seen him miss many games.
Trout has been named to the All-Star team in three of the past four seasons, even though he has played more than 100 games in a year just once. The Los Angeles outfielder had a superb start to the 2024 campaign, but injuries curtailed his season within the first month of the season.
He underwent two surgeries to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and is expected to be ready for spring training next year.
