The LA Angels have provided a positive update on their superstar Mike Trout's injury and shared a possible return timeline for him. The 11-time All-Star suffered a torn meniscus at the end of April and went for the first surgery to repair it on May 1. Following this, the Angels placed him on the injured list.

Trout started his first rehab assignment on July 22 for the team's minor league affiliate, Triple-A Salt Lake. But his first rehab start was short-lived as he left the ground with a sourness in his surgically repaired knee. It later turned out to be another meniscus tear and his rehab assignment was shut down by the team.

On Friday, the Angels announced that Trout underwent another surgery to repair the second torn meniscus. It was a success and he is expected to be ready for spring training next year.

Angels manager Ron Washington urges Mike Trout to make strong return next season

The Angels manager Ron Washington advised Trout to bounce back strong next season. He has had a tough couple of years as he sustained multiple injuries and missed a lot of games.

"I told him that he could be a poster child for meniscus tears. Show them how you recover from it and how you come back strong in the next year. The negativity that people might be thinking behind you getting hurt will go away," Washington said in an interview with the MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
"The best way for you to deal with it is to get yourself in the best shape you possibly can and put another MVP year together."

The star slugger hasn't played a complete season since 2019 when he won the AL MVP award for the third time. This season, before getting injured, Trout played 29 games for the team where he hit .220 with an OPS of .867, 10 HRs, and 14 RBIs.
