Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout spoke to the media on Saturday and said that while there is still no timetable for his return to action, he feels that he should be back by the end of July.
The three-time AL MVP has been out of MLB action since April 29 when an MRI test confirmed a torn meniscus in his left knee. While Trout's initial timeline was delayed as he struggled with recovery, the veteran outfielder is free of pain and looking forward to returning to the lineup before too long.
However, in a post on X shared by Angels beat reporter Rhett Bollinger, Trout has "turned a corner" and has been jogging and playing catch already. While there is no official timetable for his return, he is expected to start batting practice soon and is hoping to be back in aciton within a month's time.
Mike Trout was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2009 MLB Draft and made his major league debut with them in 2011. In his first full season in the majors, he landed the AL Rookie of the Year award and soon established himself as one of the best sluggers of his generation.
Over his illustrious career since then, Trout has won three AL MVP awards and along with several other individual accolades.
While there is no doubt regarding his capabilities, Trout has now faced major injuries in each of his last four seasons in the MLB. After his surgery in May, he was initially expected to be out for six to eight weeks, which had since been prolonged indefinitely.
Angels record season-high five-game winning streak despite Mike Trout absence
Despite having two of their biggest stars out of the action due to injury, the Los Angeles Angels have found their winning touch in the second half of June. After a tough start to the MLB season where they lost both Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon to injury, the Angels are finally showing some encouraging signs.
They started the week by sweeping the Oakland Athletics over three games and went on to win the first two games of their series against the Detroit Tigers. Moreover, along with Trout, Rendon has also made huge progress in training and could be back in the lineup before too long.
