Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has made a major step in the right direction in his recovery from injury. According to manager Ron Washington, the future Hall of Famer has begun running on a treadmill for the first time since suffering a devastating torn meniscus at the end of April.

The knee injury forced Mike Trout to undergo a procedure to repair the damage and has been sidelined ever since. That being said, the fact that Trout has now started running on a treadmill is an encouraging sign that the three-time MVP could be back at some point this season.

Although it is an encouraging sign that Trout is progressing through his rehabilitation process, the fact that he has been out of action for months is a major blow to both the player and the MLB. As arguably the best player of his generation, baseball is simply better when he is healthy.

Before his injury, Trout was playing like his old self again. Through 29 games this season, the Los Angeles Angels superstar has posted a .220 batting average with 10 home runs, 14 RBIs, and 6 stolen bases. While those numbers may not jump off the page, Trout's 6 stolen bases were the most he has had in a season since 2019.

Injury issues have plagued Mike Trout in recent years

Even though Trout has been one of the most dominant players of the last 15 years (lack of playoff success aside), he has struggled to remain on the field in recent years. Over the last 4 seasons, Trout has only played more than 82 games on time.

When healthy, he still remains one of the top players in the MLB. The 2022 season was a prime example of this. Trout was limited to 119 games that season, however, he finished the year with 40 home runs and 80 RBIs. He became only the 6th player in history to hit 40 home runs in less than 500 at-bats.
