Mike Trout has long been one of the most liked superstars in the MLB. Despite his lack of playoff success, the LA Angels superstar has seemingly endeared himself to fans across the league, and for good reason. Not only has Trout been one of the best players of his generation, but he is also one of the best people off the field.
As a result of his philanthropic work off the field and character on the field, Mike Trout has been nominated for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. The award is presented to the MLB star who has made a significant impact on their communities while also representing the values of the sport. Given the work that Trout does for various communities, it made him a clear nominee for the award.
Trout has used his platform and influence to help different causes over the years, including suicide awareness and working alongside the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As great as Trout is on the field, he may be even better at giving back off of it.
Mike Trout has also been an advocate for mental health for people around the world, including his fellow MLB players. In 2023, he became a mental wellness ambassador for the MLB. Following the passing of his brother-in-law Aaron as a result of suicide, the Trout family has been devoted to helping raise awareness and support for those who are struggling.
The 2024 Roberto Clemente Award will be presented to the winner on September 15. Fans will be able to vote for Trout or whichever player they feel is most deserving of the prestigious award.

The MLB released the list of nominees from each team that will be eligible for the award. Each team is represented by one player whose philanthropic contributions have made a positive impact on their community. Last season, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge was the winner thanks to his work with the ALL RISE Foundation.
