"Sad because it's true" - Mike Trout's wife Jessica shares her thoughts on 'exhausting' parenting standards today

On Monday, Jessica discussed how parenting has changed over the years. She shared an Instagram post from Brave Little Ones, a popular children's clothing brand specializing in soft, comfortable pajamas and daywear made from bamboo viscose. The clothing brand's post compared parenting standards in the '90s and the current time.

According to the video, mothers in the 1990s were happy knowing they provided food and a roof over their heads, while the mothers of the 2020s are burdened with micro-managing their children's affairs, especially in health and education.

Trout's wife shared her feelings about the situation:

"Funny, but sad because it's true. Just some food for thought, instead of "xyz" parenting, let's just simplify their childhood - slow down, underschedule, take your time & don't rush"

Mike Trout and Jessica have known each other since they studied at New Jersey's Millville Senior High School. The two met in Spanish class, eventually became a couple, and even went to prom together. Jessica was with her future husband when the LA Angels drafted Trout in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft.

Mike Trout's wife Jessica agrees with Emily Reppert

In December, Emily Reppert, an Emmy-nominated TV host and reporter, shared a video on her Instagram detailing the changes from 2019 to 2024. Reppert said she was in her prime in 2019, often garnering positive comments on social media for her appearance.

However, things changed five years later as she gave birth and suffered the effects of postpartum. She said she felt attacked and realized she was now closer to her 40s than to her 30s when in 2019. As such, she urged women with similar experiences to be friends with her.

Mike Trout's wife agreed with Reppert and shared the video on her Instagram story on Monday, captioning it:

"Literally hit all the points, same girl, same"

Jessica tied the knot with Mike Trout on Dec. 9, 2017, inside a barn in Allentown, New Jersey. Trout had popped the question the previous June, hiring a pilot to write "Will you marry me Jess?" in the sky.

She had a brother, Aaron, who was a minor-league pitcher for the Angels. Aaron died in 2018 aged 24. The cause of death was not revealed at the time. Trout later revealed it was suicide.
