The Minnesota Twins have reportedly agreed to terms with MLB veteran Donovan Solano. Solano will be entering his 10th season in the major leagues and has proven to be a consistent offensive force. He is a versatile infielder, capable of playing second base, third base or shortstop. His experience and offensive output could be great assets for the Twins.

In 2022 Solano hit for a batting average of .284, though he only played in 80 games. This is yet another strong move made by the Twins, who are looking to compete for the American League Central in 2023. It will not be an easy task, but they are taking steps in the right direction.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic was the first to report the signing via Twitter.

The Minnesota Twins know they have a limited amount of time to build around Carlos Correa, and they are capitalizing on it. Solano is an excellent depth player who could prove to be invaluable if injuries arise. As the Twins chase the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox, injuries could significantly hamper their chances.

Solano won a Silver Slugger award in 2020, hitting for an absurd batting average of .326. While that season is very likely impossible to repeat, it does show what he can bring to the table. If he can approach those heights that he hit in years past, this signing becomes all the more brilliant.

The Minnesota Twins have put a lot of great pieces in place to set themselves up for a winning season. The last two seasons have resulted in disappointment, missing the postseason in both years. It has been quite sometime since they were viewed as bona fide contenders, but that could start to change in 2023.

The Minnesota Twins added a terrific player in Donovan Solano, who could end up making a huge impact.

The AL Central is the most winnable division in the league, but it is far from easy. The Guardians have proven to be a great team that can hold up against any in the MLB. Even with their star power, the Twins have finished below .500 in each of the last two seasons.

Their growth has been slow and steady, and could finally begin to pay off in 2023 for the Twins.
