Former Toronto Blue Jays star Edwin Encarnacion enjoyed a night out, taking in a concert by Aventura. To mark the occasion, Encarnacion’s wife, Karen Yapoort, posted a glamorous selfie, showing off the show behind her.
The IG post received numerous likes and compliments. But one, in particular, stood out. Celinee Santos, Miss Dominican Republic 2024, commented on the post with an emoji:

Looking at how Edwin Encarnacion influences the next generation of ballplayers
Edwin Encarnacion played for 16 seasons in the Bigs, boasting his best seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2015 and 2016, Encarnacion and the Jays made two straight ALCS appearances.
While the Blue Jays and their talented core came short of reaching the World Series for the first time since 1993, Encarnacion’s legacy has not been forgotten in Toronto baseball circles.
Following his retirement in 2020, Encarnacion took a step back to enjoy life and spend quality time with his family. But now, it seems Encarnacion is ready to contribute in a different way, influencing the next generation of ballplayers.
A piece on Sportsnet from April showed how Edwin Encarnacion has imparted his tutelage to another rising Blue Jays star, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Guerrero grew up watching Encarnacion, along with other Blue Jays sluggers like Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson, tear up the Majors.
Now, Guerrero has the opportunity to learn valuable lessons from those who came before him. One of the most crucial lessons Encarnacion shared with Guerrero was handling the pressure that comes with being “the guy.”
“You're gonna feel it, especially when you know you're the guy," Encarnacion said. "That's when you got to think about it and take pressure out and control what you can control.”
Encarnacion knows a thing or two about handling pressure. He hit a game-winning, walk-off home run against the Baltimore Orioles in the 2016 ALDS. The home run was as big as Bautista’s famous bat flip of 2015.
That’s a lesson Encarnacion wants to share with the Guerrero. Encarnacion concluded:
“Sometimes you [direct] your attention to things you can't control and that's why I'm here — to talk to him about that. Because it happened to me before."
It seems the wisdom has paid off as Guerrero has become one of the best young power hitters in the game.
