During Corey Kluber's start against the San Diego Padres, he struggled from the beginning. He was eventually removed from the game after just 2.1 innings, giving up three hits and one earned run in 64 pitches. Fans and analysts, including Jared Carrabis, criticized Kluber for his performance.
Kluber struggled from the start, issuing walks to Fernando Tatis Jr. and Xander Bogaerts and committing a fielding error that allowed a Jake Cronenworth single. This led to a four-run first inning for the Padres, with an RBI single from Matt Carpenter and a double from Rougned Odor converting the base runners.
Jared Carrabis took to Twitter to express his disappointment in Kluber's outing, calling him "washed up" and requesting the Red Sox management to replace him in the rotation.
"Please get off my team, Corey Kluber. Absolutely useless. Completely washed." Carrabis said via Twitter.
"Kluber is lucky it’s only 4-0. Dude threw 39 pitches with 19 strikes. Washed is an understatement," Carrabis added.
Jared Carrabis claims he expected the Red Sox to lose the series decider with Corey Kluber starting
Adding a further blow to his already harsh criticism towards Kluber, Carrabis stated he had predicted Boston would lose the last game of the series with Kluber starting.
"My spin zone is as follows — I said the Red Sox were gonna take 2 of 3 and lose the Kluber game. I will gladly take a series win and a loss in the Kluber game if that loss, and his performance in particular, makes it that much easier to boot him from the rotation."
The Red Sox won the first two games 6-1 and 4-2 before the hot and cold batting lineup of the Padres finally delivered for their blowout win in the decider.
