Ron Darling, a former MLB World Series Champion and current television sports color commentator, has his bets on former New York Mets man Michael Conforto going big this upcoming season after his much-spoken trade to the San Francisco Giants.

Conforto, who has been out of baseball for nearly 18 months, solicited interest from a range of teams but finally penned a two-year contract in January worth $36 million with the Giants, containing an opt-out clause after the first season.

Ron predicts that with the help of the tactically brilliant minds at the Giants, Conforto will reach the pinnacle of his form in San Francisco.

“I think he’s going to SF, and their knowledge and information there is top-notch, good as any in baseball, and they will help him along as he finds his old stroke,” Ron Darling told Dan Plesac on MLB Network.

Exclaiming how much he loved him, the former Gold Glove awardee even backed Conforto to bag the Comeback Player of the Year award.

“Love him, love him! I have him as the comeback player of the Year. I think that his time in NY he did some amazing things. You can book him for almost 30 home runs, 80+ RBIs,” Ron concluded.

Regardless of everything else, everyone agreed on one thing — the MLB will witness Michael Conforto's resurgence in the coming months.

Michael Conforto in the MLB

Michael Conforto, nicknamed the “Scooter”, was originally selected by the New York Mets in the first round, with the 10th overall selection, in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.

Conforto hit .270 in his rookie season with the Mets in 2015, along with nine home runs and 26 RBIs. He slowly began to improve his offensive capacity over the next several seasons, and hit 27 home runs and 68 RBIs with the New York Mets in 2017, leading him to appear in his first-ever All-Star game. He was also an All-MLB Second-Team outfielder in 2020.

Conforto became a free agent after the 2021 season and missed the 2022 season due to a shoulder injury. While he hopes to make an impact on his resurgent trail back into the league with the San Francisco Giants, what remains to be seen is just exactly how well he is going to do.
