The never-ending MLB umpires saga in the baseball world seemed to continue as more officiating errors took the limelight. In the game between the Atlanta Braves and the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, a blatant third strike call was made against Ozzie Albies in the top of the ninth.
The four-run game with Seattle in the lead saw Ozzie Albies come out to the box to face Paul Sewald. With first two strike calls made by crew chief Edwin Moscoso, the Braves' left-handed batter lined up for the third. Even though the sweeper seemd to land clearly outside the strike zone, a third strike was called on Albies.
Even though the result of the at-bat was inconsequential, considering the scores at that stage, such officiating errors shouldn't take place at all. The Braves infielder was clearly dejected, as he was made to leave the field and head back to the dugout.
Already, talks of replacing MLB umpires with automated strike-calling systems are making the rounds. MLB has already tested 'robot umpires' and with increasing mistakes coming from senior officials, the top brass might contemplate bringing in automated systems permanently.
Sewald completed the save with two more easy outs. Atlanta fans were quite pissed as they took to Twitter to voice their reactions. One said:
"I swear that was even worse than the Dodgers one."

Ozzie Albies call not the only instance of umpires ruining a game on Saturday
Even though Albies' didn't matter much to the overall score, a similar umpire incident took place that sealed the fate of the game on the same day.
In the ninth inning of the game between the Dodgers and the Cardinals, LA had already scored two to make it a one-run game.
With two outs, Mookie Betts came to the box with Jason Heyward on second base for the tying run.
On a 3-2 pitch, a four-seam fastball by Cardinals' Giovanny Gallegos was called a strike by Paul Emmel, as Betts was caught looking. However the pitch seemed to land just outside the strike zone on the TV screens.
