MLB the Show 23 is going to be a very big release for the franchise and is reportedly going to correct a glaring oversight. The latest release of the game will finally feature the Negro Leagues, the game announced on Twitter.
They tweeted:
"It’s our honor to bring the Negro Leagues to MLB The Show 23! In partnership with the @NLBMuseumKC and president @nlbmprez, we invite you on a journey to celebrate the Negro Leagues and their stories of triumph over adversity in a new game experience!"
The game has always been a very in-depth video game. They have tons of different modes available and all kinds of ways to play. For a long time, they did not have the Negro Leagues, a big section of baseball's past.
Fortunately, the latest release appears poised to remedy that. It also seems very unlikely that future installments won't have this feature, so the game has finally done what a lot of fans were waiting for.
Avid gamers and baseball fans alike are thrilled with this announcement and even more excited for the upcoming release than they were before.
Many fans believe this is long overdue, but everyone is excited about it. The Negro Leagues represent a huge piece of baseball history that is often overlooked. Before Jackie Robinson, there was tons of MLB-level talent in these Leagues.
Some players eventually made it to the MLB and showcased their talent. Others didn't and were unfortunately overlooked when they should have been front and center.
Fortunately, the virtual version of the MLB is finally honoring those players.
Who is on the cover of MLB the Show 23?
MLB the Show 23 had plenty of excellent options for the cover of their 2023 release. Aaron Judge, Yadier Molina/Albert Pujols, Julio Rodriguez and more would have all made excellent choices.
In a bit of a surprising move, the developers went with the electric Miami Marlins fan favorite Jazz Chisholm. The cover was released recently and the Legend version of the game will feature New York Yankees Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.
