Fernando Tatis Jr., Jacob deGrom, and Corbin Burnes are all part of the MLB Network's latest Top 100 Players list. Baseball fans love evaluating and judging players. With so much talent around, it has been difficult for fans to agree on some of the names on the list.
MLB Network recently released players 21-30, and it includes some top-tier talent. The list includes two former Cy Young winners, a former AL MVP and numerous World Series champions.
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor came in at No. 21. He has been exceptional over the past few seasons and was a key figure in the Mets' 101-win season.
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker also snuck into the list at 30. Perhaps the biggest surprise was seeing Fernando Tatis Jr. come in at No. 26. The Dominican shortstop can do it all. He can hit with power, run, field and throw.
MLB fans took to the comments section of Twitter to debate which of these players deserves to be ranked higher.
In 2021, Tatis Jr. had arguably his best season. He recorded 42 home runs and 97 RBIs and led the National League in homers. The right-handed slugger finished with an impressive .282/.364/.611 slash line and a .975 OPS. He was selected for his first All-Star game and won his second Silver Slugger Award.
Fernando Tatis Jr. will look to break back into the top 10
Fans were stunned to see Jacob deGrom drop into the late 20s. The Texas Rangers' latest acquisition is a two-time Cy Young Award winner. He is a four-time All-Star and a former Rookie of the Year. DeGrom led the National League in strikeouts on two separate occasions (2019, 2020).
Meanwhile, World Series champion and 2017 AL MVP Jose Altuve also failed to break into the top 20. The Venezuelan infielder just completed his 12th season with the Houston Astros and continues to put up big numbers. Last season, he finished with a .300/.387/.533 slash line and helped guide the Astros to their second World Series.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for some of these players. Jacob deGrom will begin a new challenge in Texas. Kyle Tucker, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman will look to repeat as World Series champions. Fernando Tatis Jr. will be looking to break back into the top 10 next season.
