MLB fans react to the latest list projecting strikeout leaders for the 2023 season - "Robbie Ray over Ohtani cmon MLB"

Gerrit Cole is projected to top the most strikeouts list in 2023

The MLB offseason saw some magnanimous signings throughout the league. In the wake of those deals, fans have started to wonder which starting pitcher will own the 2023 season. The league has released its projected list of ace pitchers with the most anticipated strikeouts in the 2023 season.

"These guys are looking for the K" - MLB

Gerrit Cole leads the list, with Corbin Burnes, Jacob DeGrom, and Carlos Rodon closely following the Yankees ace. Others would support their assertions by pointing out that Shohei Ohtani has been seeded relatively low in the standings. Many contend that some major names are missing from the list.

It's a need that must serve the situation for fans; as long as their teams and ball players are seeded well in any competitive standings, everything feels right; as soon as it goes the other way, they start having trouble with the list and the choices made. Some of the tweets read as follows:

Cole has had some fantastic seasons in the past, coming in second place in the voting for the AL Cy Young Award twice and leading MLB in strikeouts both times. But we're still waiting for the workaholic right-hander in the Yankees pinstripes to have his first genuinely dominant season.

Jacob DeGrom will pitch for Texas on opening day, donning a different uniform than that of the Mets for the first time in the majors. The only significant factor that is uncertain in this situation is health. Due to a variety of injuries, deGrom has only been able to make 26 starts over the previous two seasons, but when he has pitched, he has been as outstanding as ever, posting a 1.90 ERA.

Prime MLB starting pitchers to keep a look out for in 2023

Ohtani's greatest accomplishments for the Angels in 2022 came on the mound, a year after he hit 46 home runs. Ohtani would have won the AL MVP Award for a second straight year if it weren't for Aaron Judge's historic season, which was his best season as a pitcher. As it stands, he came in second place for the AL MVP and fourth for the AL Cy Young Award.

"This Shohei Ohtani pitch from last season left his hand at 100.5 MPH and had a couple of inches of cut" - CodifyBaseball

Following up on his 2021 NL Cy Young Award-winning season, Burnes led the senior circuit in MLB for the 2022 season with 243 strikeouts. He eclipsed 200 innings for the first time in his career.

This past winter, Rodon decided to forego the final year of his deal with the San Francisco Giants. This proved to be a wise business move, as the New York Yankees later signed him to a six-year, $162 million contract. Rodon trails only two pitchers who haven't yet appeared on this list in terms of WAR among all pitchers.

"Today's pitch is Carlos Rodón's four-seam fastball, a pitch that according to Statcast's Run-Value was tied for the 2nd best fastball in the entire sport. It's an excellent strikeout pitch and batters hit just .213 against it" - FiresideYankees

We will see who dominates this season when the MLB campaign kicks off.
