During a highly charged game between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers, tensions escalated when Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna hit catcher Will Smith on the helmet in his follow-through. Despite the Braves initially taking a 4-run lead in the first inning, the Dodgers staged a remarkable comeback to win the game 8-6. Fans were displeased with Ozuna's behavior and expressed their discontent on social media.

Marcell Ozuna is a veteran MLB player from the Dominican Republic. He began his career with the Miami Marlins in 2008. He made his debut in 2013 and was selected for the All-Star team twice during his tenure there. After the 2017 season, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals before joining the Braves at the beginning of 2020. Since then, there has been several incidents of him hitting a catcher on the helmet in his follow through, which has not sat well with fans.

The incident in question occurred in the fourth inning, with Marcell Ozuna at the plate facing Dodgers pitcher Gavin Stone. Ozuna's swing had an exaggerated follow-through, resulting in the bat hitting catcher Will Smith's helmet. Smith expressed his displeasure with Ozuna's actions during the game.

Fans too were not happy with Ozuna after the incident and took to social media to call him out.

"Ozuna from the Braves back to being a scumbag I see,"
"Ozuna is a sack of shit. So many Braves players are likeable and this guy is an asshole."

Not the first time that Marcell Ozuna has hit Will Smith on the head

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith was understandably angry after Atlanta Braves DH Marcell Ozuna hit him on the helmet on Monday night's MLB game. It was not the first time this has happened between the two players and Smith looked to have had enough of it. The Dodgers catcher has already spent time in the injury list due to a concussion this season and made it clear to Ozuna that he was not having it any longer. The altercation almost cleared the benches of both teams, but things calmed down before getting out of hand. They have two more games left in the series which promises to be an explosive affair until the end.
