The list of the top 10 NL East position players in MLB is out, and it has some interesting names, to say the least. Many aspects were taken into account before compiling the list, according to baseball analysts and players.
The list is led by the Phillies' marquee player, Bryce Harper, followed by Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets and the latest and most prime acquisition by the Phillies, their ace shortstop, Trea Turner, who is a former Dodger.
The list includes three players each from the Phillies and the Atlanta Braves and four from the Mets. The lineup consists of one designated hitter, one catcher, four infielders and four outfielders.
Fans are expressing their opinions about the list since they all want to see the players who represent their favorite team succeed.
"Riley and Acuna over pete," Baseball015518 tweeted.
"trea is better than lindor," RedSoxHRCart tweeted.
With four All-Star selections, two Silver Sluggers, two Gold Glove Awards and a Platinum Glove under his belt, Francisco Lindor is unquestionably the National League East's most accomplished shortstop in terms of honors.
Trea Turner, a former shortstop for the Dodgers, surprised the MLB in 2021 and 2022 by earning the Silver Slugger Award and making both of those seasons' All-Star Games. Many think he has now surpassed Lindor because he is already a World Series winner (in 2019 with the Nationals).
The NL East Division in the MLB is stacked with talent
This year's division has two teams coming off 100-plus win seasons, another coming off a surprising run to the World Series, the American and National League Cy Young winners and batting champs from the previous year, as well as an abundance of prominent players.
You could argue that three of the top four or five NL teams are from the East. These teams will be the focus of many national broadcasts.
"Which NL East team has the best number 2?," @MarteMoonshot tweeted.
It's not just the positional players, but even the bullpens are completely stacked. It's safe to say that the NL East is the most competitive division in MLB for the 2023 season.
The decision to include Bryce Harper on this list was the most difficult, as he isn't anticipated to return to the Phillies lineup until right before the All-Star break, although Phillies fans hope it will happen sooner.
