MLB teams entered the 2024 All-Star break hoping their injured players would get some time off to recover. With the second half of the season already underway, some clubs' hopes for player recovery have become far-fetched.
With their injured list growing, many teams are speculated to be heavy traders in the market before the trade deadline. Several injured players are showing positive signs, while others have faced serious setbacks, affecting their teams' playoff chances.

#2. Mike Trout
On Tuesday, Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout made his first rehab appearance with their Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees. He went 0-for-1 before leaving the game early due to soreness in his left knee, the same knee in which he previously suffered a torn meniscus.
#3. Kyle Tucker
Houston Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker has been working on his return to the field since being sidelined on June 3 due to a right foot injury. Astros manager Joe Espada discussed his return, noting the difference in strength since before his injury (via Houston Chronicle):
“There’s still not the pushing and the strength that we would like to see, but it’s better… He responded well. But we need to see him do a little bit more of recovering better so we can actually at some point get him on the bases and get him over the hump."
#4. Christian Scott
Right-handed pitcher Christian Scott was placed on the 15-day injured list by the New York Mets due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow. During his start against the Miami Marlins on Sunday, Scott felt soreness and was sent for an MRI that revealed his sprain.
#5. Max Fried
Max Fried was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday due to forearm neuritis, adding to the Atlanta Braves' troubles as they are already dealing with numerous injuries. The 30-year-old pitcher underwent an MRI after feeling discomfort.
According to Braves manager Brian Snitker, the tests didn’t show any tissue damage, however, they did reveal irritation in the nerves.
