The Los Angeles Dodgers might have a potential championship dynasty on their hands after dominating their way to the World Series title in 2024. Thanks to their core of Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts remaining under contract for several years to come, Los Angeles is likely the team to beat when it comes to winning a title.
That being said, like every championship team, the Los Angeles Dodgers were not exempt from the title-winning roster breaking apart. The club has already lost Walker Buehler to the Boston Red Sox in free agency and there are still a few Dodgers players whose futures with the team remain in question.
One of those players is Clayton Kershaw, who has yet to sign a new contract for 2025. Even though the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on a deal, it's believed that Kershaw is going to remain in Los Angeles, which happens to be the only MLB club that he has ever known. This is something that MLB insider Jon Morosi believes will be the case.
"We all believe he will be a Dodger for life... #22 is going to finish his career with the Dodgers," Morosi said of Kershaw's MLB future.
This may not be surprising given Kershaw's passion for the franchise and his celebration during the team's World Series parade. That being said, there was speculation last offseason that Kershaw could make the shock move to the Texas Rangers, which would bring him closer to his hometown of Dallas, however, it never came to fruition.
Kershaw is not only a beloved figure among fans but also has spent his entire 17-year career with the club. At this point of his career, it would be odd to see him in any other uniform, especially after winning the World Series with the team.
The Los Angeles Dodgers already have one of the best rotations in baseball without the legendary Clayton Kershaw
If Clayton Kershaw does indeed return to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025, it will be interesting to see what his role will be. The club has already added one of the best pitchers in baseball to their rotation in the form of Blake Snell, while the team also has a number of injured players eyeing a return such as Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and Tyler Glasnow.
There is a chance that the club looks to move some of their pitching depth in a blockbuster trade later this offseason, which could open the door for Clayton Kershaw.
A return to the mound will also be based on his health as Kershaw also underwent a pair of procedures to repair left toe and left knee injuries. It may not be a matter of if he re-signs, but when will he re-sign at this point.
