The San Francisco Giants signed Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million contract this offseason. However, the eight-time World Series champions have failed to make any major additions to their roster since then.

MLB insider Robert Murray has suggested Ha-Seong Kim as a viable option for the middle infield alongside Willy Adames, as the Giants are unlikely to spend a huge amount to fill up that particular position. Kim is still available in the free agent market after ending his four-year stint with the San Diego Padres at the end of the 2024 season.

Robert Murray, co-host of "The Baseball Insiders" podcast, discussed the potential moves the Giants could make to find the middle infield partner for Adames during the show on Monday.

"The name Ha-Seong Kim still is available," he said (28:00 onwards)."I don't know if they'd go out and get him, but I remember somebody on their last show mentioned his name there and did not get any response on that for whatever it's worth. But if you can add Ha-Seong Kim and pair him up with Willy Adames, I think that'd be a really good thing.
"I don't think the Giants really have the big financial flexibility to go out and add another big name," he continued. "That was their big obstacle when it came to Corbin Burnes and their pursuit there. I just don't think they're going to be spending big dollars on the market unless ownership approves a payroll expansion for [president of baseball operations] Buster Posey."

The Giants were heavily linked with Corbin Burnes, the marquee starting pitcher of the free agent market, but the 2021 National League Cy Young winner joined the Arizona Diamondbacks on a six-year, $210 million deal.

Robert Murray says Giants' off-season cannot be just Willy Adames

Robert Murray believes the San Francisco Giants will have to make other signings besides Willy Adames to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season. He outlined some of the areas that their front office will look at addressing in addition to the middle infield.

"The Giants need to do more," he said. "There have been reports that they have been examining the trade market and trying to add some big names there, but they've been unsuccessful in that. Their off-season cannot be just Willy Adames and bust.
"They could use another arm in the rotation. They could use some added depth offensively and just upgrades offensively, for sure," he added.

The Giants ended last season with an 80-82 record to finish fourth in the NL West.
