While Alex Bregman's MLB future remains uncertain, a cryptic tweet from Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has sparked excitement about an imminent move.

The 30-year-old infielder remains a free agent and has been linked to several clubs in the past few days. Speaking on a recent episode of The Baseball Insiders, analyst Robert Murray dismissed Cora's Tweet and insisted that Bregman's market still remains wide open (16:55 - 20:05):

"I checked on Cora's tweet ... I did not get anything back to suggest that anything was imminent by any means. As far as the Bregman pursuit goes, they have interest, they've had interest but I did not get the sense that anything was imminent there as of yesterday. I mean, things can obviously change.
"If there's ever an opportunity for a team like the Red Sox, or even another squad out there, to jump into the Bregman sweepstakes and go out and get him, you would think now or closer to Spring Training time is when they could have that opportunity to pounce. ... You don't know exactly who could end up coming into the sweepstakes here for Bregman, which leaves the door open for any team or maybe even the Red Sox to go out and get him."

Alex Bregman is a two-time All-Star and a two-time World Series champion who's one of the biggest names remaining in free agency this offseason. While several clubs have pursued him over the past few months, he hasn't reached an agreement with any team.

Red Sox have been one of the teams in Bregman's market and manager Alex Cora's cryptic Tweet sparked rumors about signing the infielder. However, there has been no developments, and Bregman's next MLB team still remains uncertain.

MLB insider claims Red Sox are the best fit for Alex Bregman

At least five teams are believed to be in the Alex Bregman sweepstakes as of now, with the Houston Astros eager to re-sign him and the likes of the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers also in the running.

However, MLB insider Jon Heyman believes that the Boston Red Sox are the likeliest to sign him (via MLB Network):

"I think the Red Sox are the best fit for Alex Bregman."

When players remain in free agency deep into the offseason, it can result in a big contract but can also end with the player settling for a short-term deal. As far as Bregman is concerned, there's a competitiver market that promises a big move ahead of the new MLB season.
